1. Position: Finance Manager

Baobab College seeks to appoint a highly motivated, reliable, and commercially experienced Finance Manager. The Finance Manager is an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team and plays a pivotal role in driving the School's strategic development. The Finance Manager will be expected to help the school maintain its exceptional standards, whilst propelling its unique vision to greater heights.

Start date: 1st July 2024 although earlier availability will be considered.

Job Purpose

  • Finance Manager will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Finance Department, which includes and is not limited to fee billing, procurement, payroll and all statutory payments.
  • Finance Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that the school remains compliant with Zambia’s financial regulators.

Main Duties

  • Prepare the annual budget for review by the Principal and the Board of Governors’ Finance Committee.
  • Produce the statutory accounts of the school and oversee all audits.
  • Chart a financial course aligned with the Strategic Plan to support the school’s growth and occasionally spearhead fundraising initiatives.
  • Areas of responsibility outside of finance include estate management, health and safety as well as commercial activities.

Reporting Line

  • Reports directly to the Principal and ultimately to the Board of Governors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A postgraduate degree in finance or a related field
  • A member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants
  • A professional qualification from ZICA, ACCA or CIMA

Minimum Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a senior leadership position
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and fundraise
  • Experience of working within a leadership role responsible for strategic planning, administration, financial management and project management
  • Knowledge of Zambian financial laws, regulations and compliance
  • Well-developed IT skills (MS Office and financial systems) 
  • Experience in managing a diverse and multicultural staff team

The ideal candidate will possess proven senior leadership skills, strategic thinking abilities, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong financial acumen, sound commercial judgment and trustworthiness are vital, along with the capacity to establish productive relationships with the Principal, Board of Governors, parents, and colleagues at all levels.

While prior experience in education would be advantageous, we welcome applications from candidates with backgrounds in the commercial and non-profit sectors.

Baobab College seeks to recruit a highly motivated and reliable School Secretary to join us effective 1st May 2024.

The successful candidate should have outstanding secretarial and organisational skills with a good working knowledge of data management system, strong customer service and customer relations skills.
