Russel Mann is Baobab College’s Director of Sport and is charged with further improving the profile of sport within the school and throughout the Independent Schools Association of Zambia as well as the local community. As well as taking on the PE Department Russell has also taken on the Afternoon Activity Programme with the idea of making the two, PE and Activities, more hand in glove.

Russell joins us from The English Academy, Kuwait having also spent time in Kenya, Malawi and Jordan heading up Sports Departments at Independent Schools in all these countries.  Prior to that he learnt his craft in the state system in UK where he also played a lot of hockey and golf. Russell is a keen participant in many sports including football and cricket and is a Wolves supporter for his sins.


Liam Sweeney is a qualified P.E. teacher with specialist coaching qualifications in tennis, athletics, volleyball, swimming, weightlifting and squash. He has been intimately involved with the development of sport in Zambia over a period of 38 years, not only as a P.E. teacher, but also as Sports Advisor in the Mining Industry and as a member of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia.

Liam is the current chairman of the Technical Committee of the latter body and has served as the leader of the Zambian delegation to the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the 2003 All Africa Games.
