Baobab College has a thriving Performing Arts programme...

All primary students have music lessons and have the opportunity to participate in musical productions.

Recent successes include a superb Key Stage 2 presentation of Mary Poppins, and the Key Stage 1 Nativity play.

Drama and Music are core subjects for Grades 7 to 9. Both can be taken as an IGCSE option in years 10 and 11.

The Baobab Choir is renowned for its high standards.

The school will hosted the Combined Schools Choral Festival in 2006. A traditional highlight of the Baobab calendar is the Carols by Candlelight, held each December at the Lusaka Cathedral of the Holy Cross. Other events to look forward in 2006 included a Secondary Musical Production, the Inter-House Drama Festival, the annual Cabaret at Lilayi Lodge and a Baobab Concert at the Intercontinental Hotel.

The Art department offers skills training in understanding the aesthetics of the environment around us, with a focus on attention to detail. Our aim is not just painting and drawing, but also in using different mediums of expressions and learning a variety of advanced techniques.

Lusaka often plays host to high quality Photography and Art exhibitions which our Art students are afforded ample opportunity to attend.

To help expand our Performing Arts programmes, Baobab needs:

  • Musical Instrument Teachers

  • Musical Instruments

  • Oil drums to make a Steel Band

  • Choreographers

  • Production/costume/makeup assistants etc.

If you can assist with any of these, please contact the Head of Performing Arts at Baobab.
