BAOBAB COLLEGE – News and Information Issue 17 2006/7 June 1st
SECONDARY NEWS
This
week saw a number of our year eleven students complete their IGCSE
examinations and begin a well earned rest. The remainder of the year group
will complete theirs on Thursday. They are then going to have a one night camp
out which sadly represents the last time that that year group will be together
as some will be leaving for pastures new. The rest of the secondary school
have the end of year examinations looming on the horizon and should be busy
preparing themselves for those. From Monday 18th
June to Friday 22nd
June inclusive our
Year Ten students will be out on a week’s “Work experience”. Letters have gone
out to a number of prospective employers. All of the year ten students now
know where they will be going and the excitement amongst them is definitely
palpable. Many thanks to all the companies that have agreed to take students
for this week. I would like to draw your attention to an additional date for
your calendar that was not in the blue card calendar at the start of term. On
Thursday 28th
June not only will
Secondary end of year reports be issued but we will also be holding parents’
consultation from 14:00. Jon Turner Assistant Head of Secondary

P.T.A. NEWS
PTA Committee Nominations:
While every parent at
Baobab is a member of the PTA, we
have an elected Committee which oversees the running of the PTA,
and which co-ordinates events at school throughout the year. The members of
the Committee work hard to help make Baobab a better
school, and we value all the
support we receive from parents. We hope you feel that your 2006/2007
Committee has done a good job during their tenure,
and we have certainly enjoyed the involvement we have had with the school over
the past 2 and a bit terms. While some members of the current Committee will
be standing for re-election for the 2007/2008 school year,
other positions will become vacant at the end of this term. We thus urge all
parents to consider seriously offering up some of your time and talent towards
helping the PTA continue its good work. Anyone who would like to join a fun,
dedicated and motivated PTA Committee,
PLEASE come and chat to us over a cup of coffee in
the morning in the Piazza. Your school needs you!
